Student Financial Aid

Once the decisions have been finalized for where applications will be sent, then you can start the process of applying for student financial aid. You can designate on the financial aid application which schools he/she is applying to, so there's no need to wait for application decisions before applying for the financial aid.
FAFSA

The first thing you'll need is a PIN with the U.S. Department of Education. It can take a couple of days for the PIN application to go through before you can fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), so be sure to factor that time in to the time you allot for the financial aid process. While you're waiting for the PIN you can gather together the necessary documents for the application, and then once the PIN arrives and you have all your documents ready, then you can complete the application itself.
